CSCS or the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme Card was set up to help the construction industry improve quality and reduce accidents. Over 1.5 million people now possess one.
CSCS cards are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational competence by contractors, and both public and private clients.
Please find below a useful guide to CSCS cards developed by the National Specialist Contractors Council (NSCC).

NVQ enrolment offers the best route to CSCS compliance. NSITG is here to help.
Significant numbers of stone trade contractors are recognising the vital importance of their workforce holding a National Vocational Qualification and operatives who complete their Level 2 NVQ gain an experienced worker CSCS Card. Additionally contractors are facing increasing demands that anyone in a supervisory role on site must hold the Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision.
And a recent development for the stone sector is the need for the Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Heritage Skills for all workers on projects owned or managed by bodies such as English Heritage, The National Trust, Historic Scotland and CADW.
The NSITG fully supports the CSCS Card Scheme and is in favour of initiatives that ensure the credibility of those working in our sector. We also believe that NSITG can offer the training and grant funding solutions to CSCS compliance challenges.
