Experienced Worker Qualifications or On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT)

 

Many natural stone industry workers on site have no formal qualifications despite many years of experience. Experienced worker qualifications are designed to assess such employees, to get them qualified and most importantly, CSCS compliant. Typically these qualifications take from 6 to 12 months to complete, although exceptional candidates may be able to complete them faster.

 

In many cases CITB grants are available to participant companies. Where funding is available NSITG trainers and assessors are in possession of the latest information and best able to advise you. Experienced worker route qualifications include:

 

Experienced Worker Stone Sector NVQ Level 2 in:



  • Facade Cleaning and/or Restoration
  • Banker Mason
  • Fixer Mason/Floor Fixer
  • Stone Cladding
  • Stone Cutting
  • Stone Paving Installation

Description:

 

These NVQs are available to persons who have completed at least 3 years experience in one of the stone sector disciplines listed above.

 

Assessment Duration:

 

Usually between 3-12 months. 

 

Location/Delivery Method:

 

On-site assessments conducted by accredited trainers and assessors.

 

Certification:

 

Candidates will attain the Level 2 NVQ Qualification, a CITB Certificate and SFGB Certification. The NVQ Level 2 will qualify them for the CSCS card at Experienced Worker status.

 

 

Available Grants and Funding:

 

Companies registered with CITB can obtain an achievement grant of £600 per candidate if eligable – 

 

OSAT Experienced Worker Stone Sector NVQ Level 3 in: 



  • Banker Mason
  • Fixer Mason
  • Heritage Facade Preservation
  • Heritage Mason
  • Site Supervision
  • Site Technical Support for Estimators, Surveyors, Designers

Description:

 

These NVQs are available to persons who have completed the relevant qualification or experience equivalent to Level 2. Obtaining a qualification at this level demonstrates
the candidate's expertise in their discipline. These qualifications are valuable for trade supervisors.

 

Assessment Duration:

 

Usually between 9-12 months. Some candidates can complete within 3 months.

 

Location/Delivery Method:

 

On-site assessments conducted by accredited trainers and assessors.

 

Certification:

 

Candidates will attain the NVQ Level 3 Qualification, a CITB Certificate and SFGB Certification. The Level 3 NVQ will qualify them for the CSCS card at the Skilled Worker status (or the Heritage Card if undergoing the Heritage Mason NVQ).
